Calls for Golden Gaytime ice cream to have name changed as it's ‘offensive’ and ‘outdated’

Iconic Australian ice cream Golden Gaytime is the next thing to come under the cancel spotlight after a man created an online petition to have the name changed as it is “outdated” and “offensive” to the gay community. The man known as Brian Mc launched the petition last month, which has now gathered more than 800 signatures. “It's not my place to tell Streets what to call their rebranded product, but I do feel it's time that the Golden Gaytime is called out for being outdated, especially when Streets is releasing new products and cross promotions in 2021," he wrote. Streets parent company Unilever responded to Mr Mc and said "the origin of the 'Gaytime' name was related to having a joyous or happy time and was meant to capture the pleasure that comes with enjoying an ice cream."
