Skateboarding cat sensation finds a purrfect feline friend

ONE skateboarding cat is an odd thing to encounter.

Two is almost too much to handle.

About four weeks ago, the Tweed's most famous cat welcomed home a new friend.

Robert Dollwet, who owns Tweed Heads-based Malibu Dog Training and started the Catmantoo YouTube channel, is training another cat.

Didga became an internet sensation when Mr Dollwet released a YouTube video of her skateboarding.

She also started surfing, and is competing for the world record for the most tricks by a cat within a minute.

The Catmantoo YouTube channel has been viewed more than 3.7million times.

Mr Dollwet said he had high hopes for his new boy Boomer, which is 16 weeks old.

Before adopting Boomer, Mr Dollwet said he fostered a kitten to help Didga get used to the idea.

He said bengal cats were known for their aptitude for learning tricks.

"They're not lap cats," Mr Dollwet said.

"They're not cuddly cats.

"They're supposed to be the most trainable cats.

"They're really active...so for what I do it's a perfect match."

Mr Dollwet has started uploading videos of the adorable kitten, including one that documents his first experience on the beach.

Already, the odds are looking good for Boomer to become the next internet sensation.

Mr Dollwet said the kitten had already begun pushing himself on a skateboard in the house.

While he said that may have been a "fluke", he considered it a good sign.

"It shows me he has the physical ability and now I just have to keep working on it," he said.

Mr Dollwet said having a kitten to play with had also been stimulating for Didga.

The trainer said, despite Didga's exciting adventures, he felt it was important for her to have a playmate.

"I can't simulate that," he said.
