OPINION: Mayor, councillors put on notice

WITH the local government elections due early next year it's time to put the current mayor and councillors on notice.

The people of the Bundaberg region are looking for a big improvement in performance from the current lot, I suspect that only a few will hang on once the people have had their say, the only obvious change over the past three years is an increase in rates, and water charges.

We are paying more in rates in the Bundaberg region than they pay on the Sunshine Coast and look at the services that ratepayers enjoy there, compared to the Bundaberg region.

The councillor who instigates a policy to fix the traffic lights in Bundaberg will get my vote.

Right-turn arrows stay on preventing vehicles from turning although there is no oncoming traffic, turns, short cycling before allowing all traffic to pass through are just a couple of issues that need to be addressed.

Councillors must drive around the streets and see this stuff that needs to be fixed so I must ask why don't they do it.
