One killed, one critical and one injured in morning smash
A FEMALE from Taiwan has died following an early morning crash at Oakwood.
The two-car crash occurred on the at about 5.30am after a car travelling on Mercers Rd drove through a give way sign to enter Rosedale Rd.
The woman, in her mid-20s, was the passenger in the car which failed to give way.
The driver of the car, a 20-year-old male from Taiwan, has been transported to Brisbane in a critical condition.
A second passenger has been released from hospital.
No one in the oncoming vehicle were injured.
Bundaberg Control Group Acting Inspector Grant Marcus said initial investigations suggested the Holden Astra failed to give way.
Act Insp Marcus said the injuries suffered by the driver of the Holden Astra were "quite severe".
"The hospital are doing their best at the moment to help him get through this," he said.
The third person in the car, a woman, has been hospitalised with serious injuries.
The two occupants of the other vehicle, a ute, did not suffer any serious injuries.
"The driver of the ute at the last minute has tried to avoid the crash, as you would instinctively do," Act Insp Marcus said.
"He's okay, he's a local resident from around this area - quite young, but these things are a shock to anybody when they happen."
