Young film buff uploads his own thriller

FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD movie buff Joseph Akers has made a short thriller film called The Hunter, which he has posted to YouTube.

The murder mystery, posted to YouTube on Joseph Akers' channel, will also have a sequel and a prequel.

Joseph, who shares his movie reviews with the NewsMail website, said while his favourite actor was Tim Burton, it was Christopher Nolan who had inspired his little movie.

"Nolan has such a good style with cinematography and visuals," Joseph said.

"I was also inspired by Liz Manashil who is on a YouTube movie reviewing show Just Seen It, and is currently making her first production. It kinda proves that anybody can do something with a good story."

"I tried to make a fun thriller with a hand-cam scene (the hand-cam scene was my favourite to film).

"It isn't anything amazing, though I made it to experiment with different film techniques.

"Placement of camera was my main task, and I personally think I did a good job with that."

All parts in the YouTube film were played by Joseph Akers, who also filmed the movie.

"It isn't hard to act multiple roles, but it does require a bit more time," he said.

"It definitely works out in the end though, plus I had a brief script of what I wanted to do."

Despite the nature of the film, Joseph said there would be a heartwarming back story once he makes the prequel.
