Young Dingoes hit the road for first tour

IF YOU haven't had a chance to rock out to the funky beats and alternative melodies of Young Dingoes, well now is your chance.

The Bundaberg band will be embarking on their first state tour in July when they will make a pit stop to perform at the place where it all began, the Grand Hotel.

Guitarist Brad Durrant said the tour, aptly titled after their most recently released single I Don't Want to be Around Here, was the next step in the Young Dingoes' music career.

"People can expect the tour shows to go for an hour, we will play around 10 songs with a few jams and covers in between," he said.

"We like to keep it pretty light and just make sure everyone's having a good time.

"We don't like to take ourselves too seriously, so we don't want the crowd to either."

The band, made up of Durrant, Jordy Carr, Ash Travaini and Jarred Hahn, will also perform their newest song, written about an experience from a night out in Bundaberg.

"I Don't Want To Be Around Here is a high-tempo song we wrote about one of Jordy's experiences. Too broke after a night out to catch a taxi so he was walking home when he was chased by someone most of the way," Durrant said.

"While he was trying to outrun him he couldn't stop imagining all the possible outcomes if he was caught. This formed the lyrical theme and is the subject of the build-ups in the song. The song is basically the sound of running for your life."

With a busy schedule ahead of them, Durrant said the Young Dingoes were looking forward to breaking out in unfamiliar territory before getting back in the recording studio to create more dingo magic.

"We plan to hit the studio again this year, record and release some new tracks and just play as many shows in as many different places as we can and have a great time doing it," he said.

"We feel successful and we feel lucky for the support we've received in Bundaberg from our friends and as a band. We just want to keep that positive energy going by touring, writing and releasing new music as much as we can."

Young Dingoes will play at the Grand Hotel on July 23 as part of their I Don't Want to be Around Here tour.
