Young beauty sets sights on catwalk model dream

EVEN as a child, it was evident that Springfield's Emma Williams had an interest in modelling.

When she was eight, she would strut down an imaginary catwalk in her mother's heels, parading various clothes.

Fast-forward 11 years and the blue-eyed beauty is on her way to making those childhood modelling dreams a reality.

Miss Williams is currently one of 15 Queensland women in the running to represent the state at the Australian Supermodel of the Year 2015 contest.

The competition has been designed to source Australia's hottest talent and give them a chance to extend their modelling careers on a national and international level.

Miss Williams was short-listed to take part in the state finals, which were held in Brisbane earlier this month.

Winners - who will go on to represent Queensland at the national final at Sydney in November - are expected to be announced this week.

Contestants were judged on their photographic and runway ability and overall image.

Miss Williams, 19, said the event had been an exciting experience for her and hoped it would kickstart her career.

"When I found out about the competition, I applied online and provided a few photos and some details about myself," she said.

"From there I was chosen to be one of the contestants in the state finals."

During the event, the finalists showcased a variety of clothing down the runway, which included formal wear, casual wear, and swimwear.

They also had a photo shoot where they posed in their swimwear for further judging.

"A career in modelling has always been a dream of mine," Miss Williams said.

"At this time in my life I am focused on achieving that goal.

"If it doesn't work out though, I plan to follow my other interest, working at a cattle station as a jillaroo."

Businesses have the opportunity to sponsor Miss Williams on her journey throughout the contest, with a range of sponsorship packages which offer national promotions.
