'You stole my kids': Jail time for 'brutal' attack
A MAN with no violent criminal history will remain in prison after bashing a man he accused of stealing his children.
Luke Joseph Mulholland, 43, entered a Yandina home on January 20 and shoulder barged a man, known to his ex, into a fridge.
While Mulholland's children watched on, he punched the man 15 to 20 times - continuing even after his victim fell to the ground.
During the attack, Mulholland yelled, "You stole my kids... I'll come back and f*** you up".
He then took one of his three children from the home.
Mulholland pleaded guilty in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He appeared via video link from prison where he is currently serving a 4.5 year sentence for a Supreme Court drug trafficking matter which he was convicted of on February 2.
Police prosecutor Stephen Potter told the court Mulholland's victim suffered cuts to his nose, bruising to his face and a black eye.
Mulholland's lawyer said his client, a long-time ice user, acknowledged he was his "own worst enemy" and had gotten clean while in prison.
He now works in jail untangling headphones for Qantas.
Acting Magistrate Andrew Walker, who described the attack as "brutal", sentenced Mulholland to 14 months imprisonment, to be served concurrently with his current prison time.
His parole eligibility date is set for July 31, 2018.
