Wyatt's pledge not a winner
MAYORAL candidate Peter Wyatt's promise to give away half his salary $20 at a time to the public seems to have backfired.
Comments on the NewsMail's Facebook page are totally against his plan.
Most commenters think he should use the money on creating jobs.
Angela Nightingale said she was insulted by the plan.
"With all the unemployed people desperate for work in Bundy ... he's carrying on like a prat to win votes," she posted.
"Seriously, did he just have a vision to wake up one day and decide to put himself down for mayor."
Richard Love said MrWyatt was a fool if he thought anyone would vote for him with his "mental ideas".
"Has he got to the hemp part of his repertoire yet?" he said.
Mandy Cullen wondered how it was supposed to help anyone except himself.
"He would be better off spending his $50,000 in a more productive way," she said.
"Like perhaps job creation, since we have the worst employment rate.
"If he thinks that mayors are overpaid, then that can be his first job, to reduce their wages."
Annie Emery said, what happened after the money was gone.
"You know the old saying, money don't buy love, well your lousy $20 notes won't buy you votes, you're not fit to be mayor."
Laura Jay said Mr Wyatt should take a $50,000 a year reduction in wages, and use it to boost the economy.
