A CRAZED wrestling fan has attacked a WWE superstar in the middle of a show in South Africa.

Randy Orton was on the turnbuckle following his match in Cape Town giving his signature pose when a man jumped in the ring and hit him with a low blow.

WWE.com has released a statement on the attack.

"The matter is currently under investigation by the local authorities, and the South African fan is being held in jail pending criminal charges.

"The extent of Orton's injuries are unknown at this time.

Fans took to Twitter to discuss the incident.

"Just heard that @RandyOrton was attacked in Cape Town!? This gives our country such a bad name!! Damn you whoever attacked Orton!" Twitter user Slade wrote.

Superstar Big E Langston, Orton's opponent in the match, chimed in on Twitter - 'That's not exactly what we mean by "intimate fan experience." ' he wrote.

Following the incident Orton continued his celebrations with the fans - before eventually flipping the bird to his attacker.
