Women an inspiration for go-getter

BUNDABERG'S Frances McLeod has returned from the Telstra Business Women's Awards inspired by Queensland women who are leading by example.

Ms McLeod, Wide Bay Australia's chief operating officer and executive director of the Bundaberg-based company, was one of the finalists in the awards which culminated earlier this week when winners were announced in Brisbane to an audience of 500 people.

Over 4400 Queenslanders were nominated for the awards.

Frances was one of six finalists in her category for the private and corporate business sector.

She started with the building society, then called Burnett Permanent, as a junior clerk in 1974 and has progressed through the ranks of Wide Bay Australia, culminating in her election as executive director in 2001.
