
Woman falls 8m down mine shaft
POLICE say a woman is lucky to be a live after plummeting 8m down a mine shaft in Lightning Ridge, in NSW’s North West.
The 26-year-old vanished from her home on Friday during a late night walk, sparking a large-scale search and rescue operation.

Over the weekend, the temperatures in the region exceeded 40 degrees.
Police discovered the woman using a police drone about 10.20am yesterday following several days of searching.

They used a pulley and harness to swing down to the woman and provide her with water before bringing he to the surface.
The woman was taken to Lightning Ridge Hospital in a stable condition.
Police believe she may have tripped and fell during her walk.
