Woman falls to her death from high-rise balcony

POLICE have positively identified a woman who died after she fell from a Surfers Paradise high-rise apartment building yesterday.

Around 2.20am, officers were called to the Wahroonga Place building after receiving reports that a woman had fallen from a balcony.

The woman has been identified as 26-year-old Warriena Tagpuno Wright from Lower Hut, New Zealand.

Investigations have established she arrived in Australia alone on July 29, 2014 for a two-week holiday which included attending a wedding.

Police wish to speak with anyone who met Warriena since her arrival or has any information about her activities, movements or companions whilst in Australia.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death are ongoing.

Police continue to appeal for anyone who may have CCTV, camera, or mobile phone vision of the Avalon Apartment building around the time the woman fell to contact Gold Coast Police or Crime Stoppers.
