Woman escapes Gayndah house fire

A GAYNDAH women escaped serious injury after her house was gutted by fire overnight.

Police Sergeant Joshua Ryan said the women called 000 at 7.40pm to report the fire on Boyd Rd.

"At this stage the matter is under investigation by the police and fire departments, it's not believed to be suspicious at this stage but we are yet to determine what has caused the fire,” Sgt Ryan said.

"The Queensland Fire Investigator is here and conducting his investigation now.”

Sgt Ryan said the women was transported to Bundaberg Hospital for unrelated injuries.

"There was a lady in the house however she managed to call 000 and evacuate, she was suffering from a pre-existing medical condition not related to the fire,” he said.

"There are a number of tenants who live there however they were away at the time.”
