Garden shears used to chop off man’s penis

AN ARGENTINIAN woman allegedly used a pair of garden shears to chop off a sleeping man's penis, according to reports.

Brenda Barattini, 26, was arrested on Saturday following the gory attack at her swanky home in the northern city of Cordoba, where she claims she was sexually assaulted, Central European News reported.

"She let him into her apartment because he's someone who's in a rock band and is an acquaintance of her brother," said her lawyer, Carlos Nayi, according to Metro UK.

"Once inside … he attacked her sexually and she assumed a defensive attitude."

The victim, identified only as a 40-year-old named Sergio, is still hospitalised for the "very serious" injuries to his manhood, according to state prosecutor Bettina Croppi.

"It's very likely he's lost the ability to father children," she said.

Sergio's lawyer denies his client sexually assaulted Barattini, claiming the two had been dating for months and were playing a "sexual game" at the time of the attack.

"They were in the middle of things. He wasn't asleep. They began with a sexual game in which he was blindfolded," said lawyer Eduardo Perez.

Croppi confirmed the pair knew each other. She said the shear-wielding architect was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation and tests to determine if she was raped.

"What I can say is that the man wasn't tied up when police arrived," she said.

"He was helped by neighbours first and then by paramedics who arrived after police."

Local press dubbed Barattini the "Argentinian Lorena Bobbitt" for the Virginia woman who infamously hacked her husband's member off with a knife while he slept in 1993 - following years of alleged beatings and rape.

Bobbitt was found not guilty due to insanity and her case made headlines worldwide.
