Windies legend wows Woodgate

WEST Indian cricketing immortal Sir Vivian Richards wowed a capacity audience at the Woodgate Club on Thursday night.

The “Master Blaster” appeared with Australian test star Rodney Hogg at a club sportsmen’s dinner.

Among many humorous anecdotes, he expressed his affection for various rivals, as well as his dislike of others – especially former England captain Geoff Boycott.

“We always thought Dennis Lillee was the world’s best bowler, while Jeff Thompson was the best human being,” he said.

A number of memorabilia items were auctioned on the night, with the highest bid of $2000 made for a framed, autographed lithograph print of 14 of the West Indies legends of the 70s and 80s.
