Win will seal Hervey Bay Bombers' place in finals

THERE might still be another seven rounds left but Hervey Bay Bombers will put one foot in the finals door should they win on Saturday.

The Bombers host the bottom-placed Gympie Cats, who recorded its first win of the season a fortnight ago.

It will be the first time the sides clash since round two, when the Bombers won 72-67 at Gympie's Six Mile Oval.

After approaching that game as a training run, Hervey Bay coach Tony Potter said his side would not take Gympie for granted.

"If Gympie play like they did that time it will be close,” Potter said. "They shut us down at Gympie.”

Potter said the similarity between the two teams' home grounds would put the Cats on a level-playing field.

First bounce is at 2pm.

Bay Power will travel to Maroochydore in what shapes as a must-win game for both teams.
