It's time for a back-to-basics council, says Cr Batt
What is your biggest achievement in the past four years?
The biggest achievement during this time has been the community bonding together and to have been able to play my part in that recovery by demonstrating my leadership capabilities in my role as recovery co-ordinator to overview the recovery efforts. The Bundaberg region is still recovering, but we are all stronger as a community for what we went through in 2013.
What is the biggest disappointment in this time?
This term was greatly flavoured by the 2013 disaster events so I would have to say the response and recovery to this event was the biggest challenge and the biggest achievement.
Why should people vote you back in?
I have proven over the past eight years as a councillor a consistent and consultative approach to solving local issues and have always been a strong voice to advocate for the needs of the region and very responsive to community members' contacts. I have listened to community feedback and understand that the next four years needs to be a term to get back to basics.
What is your main priority for the next four years in the Bundaberg region?
Moving forward I'm committed to ensuring that the council prioritises improvement in areas the community have told us need strengthening - accountable decision making, open communication and better community participation.
