Shock win for Wests

COUNTRY Wests have taken out the Bundaberg Cricket Association Twenty20 competition with a nine-run win over Across The Waves.

But it was last year's premiers, Brothers, that had everyone at Salter Oval talking.

The BCA powerhouse was expected to pick up where it left off last season and pummel Wests on Saturday morning and book a spot in the final.

But Country Wests ruined the party when they defeated Brothers in the morning and held the much-vaunted batting attack to less than 100 runs.

“We fully expected to play Brothers in the final,” Across The Waves stand-in captain Zac Keune said.
