Welcome changes at golf club
THERE has been a number of changes at Oakwood Golf Club over the last couple of weeks, and they are all for the better.
The course has dried, the fairways have a magnificent cover of grass and we have almost caught up with the never ending mowing.
The club has made a major purchase of new machinery which will enable us to keep the rough neat and low which will speed up play.
We also have a new manager, Ian Brooke, at the clubhouse.
Ian is experienced in a variety of management roles and is looking forward to meeting members and, as a golf lover, playing with them in the competitions.
We have also been fortunate to have professional Mike Mills come to Oakwood Park Golf Club for two days a week.
Mike has won many pro-am events and has played in the British Open and is a highly qualified teacher.
Mike will also be running the pro shop for a couple of days per week.
He will be conducting clinics for members and be available for private tuition, club repairs and equipment sales and advice.
Just call the Oakwood Park Golf Club on 4152 0659 for booking with Mike.
The winner of the Men’s Monthly Medal competition on Saturday was Kev Lewis with 62 nett, while the Ladies Medal was won by Roslyn Savidge with 67 nett.
The Friday “Chicken Run”, sponsored by Lenards of Hinkler Place, was won by Ron Stayte.
On Wednesday, the veterans played their monthly medal for February and the winner was Gary Hay with a fine 60 nett.
Sunday’s “Zac’s Meat” competition was won by Kev Lewis with 45 points.
See you all at Oakwood Park Golf Club for competition games next weekend.
Social players are also welcome.
