Waste dumped in forest

NEW illegal dumping hotspots across the city are being identified after several incidents in the past week.

The latest is a patch of state forest on Commercial Ave that was identified in an SMS sent by a NewsMail reader.

On a visit to the spot yesterday the NewsMail found old tyres, a TV set and furniture that had been dumped throughout the forest.

Bundaberg Regional Council waste and recycling manager James Stanfield said he did not think it was a problem that would ever be solved.

"I think there's a certain percentage of people who are always going to be recalcitrant," he said.
