Siege called off after wanted man not found in house

LATEST: A THREE-hour stand-off in Morayfield has been called off.

Police ordered a block be cordoned off after officers suspected a wanted man had holed himself up inside a house.

At 8pm, police were able to confirm that the wanted man was not inside.

The emergency situation was called off minutes later.

Police are continuing to investigate.

 

 

EARLIER: HEAVILY-armed police have cordoned off three streets in Morayfield after they were called to a home "in relation to a wanted person".

Media reports from the scene suggest the man is refusing to leave the Hillmont Cres house, and may be armed.

PolAir is understood to be above the house.
 

The lockdown of the area comes after police visited the home at 2.40pm on Thursday.

Police declared an emergency situation at 5.27pm, which covers Walkers Rd, Crestwood Ave, Hillmont Cres and Hilldale Cres. 

People are now being asked to stay away from the area.
