Wallaville celebrates centenary
WALLAVILLE State School will celebrate its 100th year of education on November 21.
Gates open at 9am with school tours, registration, souvenir stalls, reunions and displays showcasing the achievements of the school.
The official program will commence at 10.45am and will showcase the Wallaville and Gin Gin combined strings ensemble followed by official speeches, the opening of the school's multi-purpose sports and activity centre, the launch of the Wallaville history publication and cutting of the cake.
Following the official program, a number of activities have been planned.
Activities include market stalls, amusement rides, magic show and balloon animals and food and drink stalls.
The Walla versus Drinan Interhouse Sports Centenary Cup is highly anticipated and competition is set to be fierce with both teams hoping to be crowned the House of the Century.
The closing ceremony will include the burial of a time capsule.
All members of the public are welcome to contribute items such as photographs and letters on the day.
As the final countdown continues and plans are finalised, the school and community are enthusiastic for what is being called the celebration of the century.
