Walking to the beat of his heart

KEVIN Huxham's feels like his day has not really started until he goes for his daily morning walk.

The retired 65-year-old is hoping to instil the same passion for walking in other Bargara residents when he starts the Bargara Heart Foundation Walking group.

The group will start slowly, walking for an hour from 7am on Wednesday and Sundays.

“We can do more if people like, but that's just our starting point,” Mr Huxham said.

Mr Huxham, who moved to the region in November, said the reason he decided to help start the group was simple.

“I thought I would get to meet some people and also get them out there exercising, especially the retired and elderly,” he said.

The group's first walk will be on Sunday, April 3.
