VMR hoping for a big catch at fishing comp

MARK the date and get the bait because it's on again.

VMR Bundaberg is set to host the 11th Family Fishing Classic from June 24-26 at Burnett Heads.

More than $70,000 of prizes will boost this year's fishing classic.

Saturday's major lucky draw prize is a Quintrex 390 Explorer boat and trailer with a 30hp Suzuki outboard, valued at $10,000.

Sunday's major lucky draw includes another Quintrex 390 Explorer as well as a side console Quintrex 420 Renegade boat and trailer with a 40hp Suzuki, valued at $17,900.

The boats are sponsored by Boats Galore Bundaberg and Suzuki Marine.

The Junior lucky draw prize is a kayak from Burnett Heads Marina.

The good news is the lucky draws are open to all who register, not just those who fish and the odds are great.

Other lucky draws and quick raffle prizes include VHF radios, a bar fridge, Shimano sports camera, tool kits, life jacket and boating accessories, Eskys, marine batteries, swags, a Koastal kayak, Lady Musgrave and LARC tours and other great prizes.

Major raffle ticket prizes include a MIG welder from the Bolt Place valued at $728, a 48l Ice Mate icebox and an Oz Trail Mitchell Expedition swag.

Fishing prizes will be awarded for the overall heaviest fish for defined species for juniors and seniors in live and dead catch categories and an Open Reef category.

Fishing starts from 6am on the 24th.

The full program with details of prize categories, rules and regulations and a registration form are available at www.vmrbundabergfishingclassic.com.au.

Information and registration forms are also available at the VMR Base and from fishing and marine outlets in Bundaberg, Bundaberg Broadcasters or phone 0417 734825.
