Vegas celebration given a boost

ALTHOUGH Mon Repos man Greg McGrail doesn't turn 50 until the end of the year, he received a very early birthday present on Saturday when he won $3000 to plan his dream holiday.

Bargara Central Shopping Centre ran a competition whereby entrants who shopped at any of its stores could go in the running to win the travel voucher, donated by Harvey World Travel.

"I'm as happy as a sandboy," Mr McGrail said.

The win could not have come at a better time because Mr McGrail and wife Tanya have been planning a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate his 50th birthday in December.

"That's been in the planning for 18 months," he said.

"We've been putting money away into a little slush fund, so this money will be put into the pool and we'll do the bookings with Harvey World Travel."

Mr McGrail said it had been a very happy weekend for his family, who had just bought a new house on Friday before winning the competition a mere 24 hours later.

"It made going to work yesterday a little bit easier," he said.

Harvey World Travel officer manager Jenny Gregg said there had been thousands of entries to the competition.

"I don't know exactly how many there were, but there was two barrels full of entries," she said.

Mrs Gregg said the shopping centre had approached the travel agents for sponsorship for the competition, which ran for a little over a month.

"We thought it was a great opportunity to promote ourselves at Bargara," she said.
