VEGAS BOUND: Carman is heading to the United States
BODY BUILDING: Thinking her chance to head to perform at Las Vegas had disappeared, Bundaberg body builder Allahna Carman turned her attention to the nationals at Brisbane.
With eight weeks to go the dental assistant started to prepare for the Australian National Body Sculpting Championships, as she cut down her food intake for the event.
Then one day, a couple of weeks ago, she checked her junk email.
She had been selected to compete in Las Vegas at the world titles, as part of the Fitness America Weekend.
Not believing what she was seeing, Carman said she had to read it a couple of times.
"It was unreal (to fund out)," she said.
"I called my husband straight away and was like 'oh my god I made Vegas.'"
Unfortunately it created a tough decision.
Carman could either continue to Brisbane, or go for broke and fund her way to Las Vegas.
"I was questioning what I should do," she said.
"In the end I've only got one chance at this, so I committed to Las Vegas."
With 10 weeks to go until the event starts on November 17, the fun now begins as she gets her body right for the event.
"At about eight week out my meals change and I start to restrict it a bit," she said.
"I then have no carbohydrates at dinner and get more strict again with four weeks to go."
"The last week it is totally brutal as I enter competition."
Carman also said it is a bit surreal that a person from Bundaberg was heading overseas to compete on the big stage.
"It's crazy," she said.
"Especially considering I was doing my first show only 12 months ago."
Not setting any expectations for the event either, Carman said heading overseas was enough of a reward.
"Just being on that stage is going to be amazing," she said.
"I'll just aim to do my best and if I can get a place that would be a bonus."
"I'm really excited for it at the moment."
Unfortunately though the trip comes at a cost, with Carman funding the whole trip herself.
She has set up a GoFundMe page, with her gym City Fit also coming on board to help in any way they can.
With the trip $5000, including flights and accommodation, Carman said any help would be appreciated.
