Valentine's Day a sparkler for one lucky couple
JOHN Loveday will be the bloke Bundaberg men can thank for setting the bar so high this Valentine's Day, after he showered his wife with a heart-cut diamond sparkler - with the help of the NewsMail and Ritchie's Jewellers.
Mr Loveday was the lucky winner of a diamond giveaway worth a total of $5000.
He said he didn't know who the real winner was - himself or wife Emily.
"I expect the same sort of present," he said with a laugh.
The 0.904 carat diamond was hand-picked in Antwerp, Belgium, by Ritchie's Jewellers owners Ray and Vicki Dunn.
"We bought it on a diamond-buying trip last year," Mrs Dunn said.
The Valentine's Day promotion attracted almost 5000 entries.
Mrs Loveday said she hope to have the diamond set in a ring. Setting is part of the prize.
