Ukranian DJ to bring popular and new tracks to music festival
UKRAINIAN DJ and producer Omnia makes his Australian debut at next month's Summafieldayze festival on the Gold Coast.
The 26-year-old house and progressive trance DJ has quickly risen up the ranks of the genre.
His tracks are regularly played by some of the world's top DJs including Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and Paul van Dyk.
Omnia, real name Smirnov Evgeny Aleksandrovich, tells APN about what to expect from him in 2013.
Q: Will Summafieldayze be your first time in Australia? If so, what are you looking forward to doing, other than playing the festival, while you're Down Under?
A: It's going to be my first time and I just can't wait because I have long wanted to visit Australia! So I'm very pleased to be invited and aside from the amazing looking shows I will also have a little time to see some sights.
Q: What can we expect from your Summafieldayze DJ set?
A: I'm going to play some well-known stuff and of course some absolutely new material because I have a lot of tracks in production at the moment. But I never know before how my set will sounds like… a lot of things depend on my personal mood and crowd reaction on the day.
Q: Any upcoming remixes or collaborations you're working on that you can tell us about?
A: Yes! I'm really excited about my collaboration with Ashley Wallbridge who is one of my favourite producers at the moment. And I'm almost finished with a remix for Carol Lee - her voice is just amazing!
Q: Speaking of collaborations, who's on your wish list of singers you'd like to work with?
A: There are a lot of talented singers on the EDM scene today. One of my favourite tracks is In My Mind with vocals by Georgi Kay. So I would be happy to do something together. And my dream is to someday make a track with a legend such as Liam Gallagher or Brian Molko.
Q: After kicking off 2013 here in Australia, what are your plans for the rest of the year?
A: There are a lot of dates in my schedule all over the world confirmed already for 2013 including ASOT 600, Ultra Music Festival in Argentina, Zouk in Malaysia and Singapore and Papaya in Croatia. But of course the most important thing for me is studio work and my music. There are about 10 tracks in progress at the moment and I hope that all of them will be released in 2013.
Summafieldayze plays Doug Jennings Park at The Spit, Gold Coast, on January 5.
