Rideshare driver charged with rape of teenage girl

A rideshare driver has been charged over the alleged rape of a teenage girl in Brisbane last week.

The 37-year-old Aspley man has been charged following investigations by detectives.

Police will allege the man was the driver of a ride sharing vehicle when the incident occurred in Brisbane's south around 8.30pm on July 7.

The man has been charged with one count of rape and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

The matter is unrelated to a similar offence which occurred in Brisbane last week.

Detectives believe there could be other victims who have been assaulted in similar circumstances and are appealing for them to report the matter to police.

An Uber driver was last week arrested and charged with three counts of rape of a woman in Brisbane.

The woman was picked up within the nightclub district of Fortitude Valley and allegedly assaulted earlier in the week while using the ride-booking service.

A man aged in his late 40s had been charged with three counts of rape and one count each of stealing and wilful damage.
