Two hurt in city road rage chase

TWO people were injured after being thrown from cars during a road rage pursuit through Bundaberg streets last night.

“It started on Bourbong Street, outside the netball courts, where there was an altercation between the occupants of two vehicles, and a person was injured,” Bundaberg Police sergeant Mike McLennan said.

A Queensland Police Media spokeswoman said threats between occupants of the cars were made when an altercation started at 6.10pm.

The male driver allegedly sped away, and an occupant of the car fell out and was injured.

“They continued the pursuit to Scotland Street and another person was injured there,” Sgt McLellan said.

The police media spokeswoman said the original car was pursued to Scotland Street , where the two collided and a man fell from a car.

Police caught up with one of the vehicles in Mary Street.

“Police have arrested one male for drink driving and further enquiries will continue,” Sgt McLellan said.

“The roads (Bourbong and Scotland) were blocked for three hours and a number of police units were required.”

The two injured people were taken to Bundaberg Hospital with minor injuries.
