EVERY man and his dog showed up to Cornetts Supa IGA North Bundaberg today when Bondi Vet star Dr Chris Brown stopped by.

Dr Chris was in town as the brand ambassador for Mars Petcare brand Optimum and to support the efforts of staff at the IGA.

IGA merchandise manager Derek Jenkinson said the meet and greet was a great success.

"This is the first time Dr Chris has been invited to a country store and we had such an amazing turn out," he said.

When the NewsMail had a quick chat with the television veterinarian, he explained what he loved most about his work.

"I have always been fascinated by animals but also curious about how they work and how to make them better," Dr Chris said.

"I think it is just about making that difference to a pet and also to the family."

Dr Chris said the quirkiest animal experience he had had involved a pet snail in China.

"I was in Beijing recently and had to treat someone's pet snail. Turns out there was a calcium deficiency in the shell. That was a pretty unique experience."
