Turtle playground closed for week

THE popular turtle playground at Bargara is to undergo a refurbishment in preparation for the upcoming Christmas school holidays.

The playground will be fenced to enable the rubber soft fall, slippery slide and water features to be repaired as well as repainting to be carried out.

Bundaberg Regional Council's Health and Environmental Services spokesperson Cr Mary Wilkinson said the refurbishment and repairs would necessitate the closure of the playground on the Esplanade for about one week from Monday.

Cr Wilkinson said some of the repairs had been necessary following acts of vandalism in the park and council had allocated about $10,000 to complete the refurbishment.

“The turtle playground is an extremely popular facility and council had scheduled the repairs and refurbishment to ensure the park is ready for the approaching busy school holiday period,” Cr Wilkinson said.
