Truckie's amazing escape

CHILDERS police were amazed the driver of a prime mover hauling a trailer fully-laden with vegetables escaped injury after it rolled on to its side on the Bruce Highway at Booyal yesterday morning.

Before coming to rest, the south-bound Kenworth struck two trees and sustained extensive damage in the incident.

“To virtually walk away from damage like that without suffering any injuries is beyond me,” Childers Police Senior Constable Frank Lawler said.

“Quite often you see serious injuries resulting from much less damage. It's amazing.”

The 32-year-old driver was taken to Gin Gin Hospital for observation.

He was issued with a Traffic Infringement Notice for failing to exercise proper control over a vehicle.
