Truck drivers walk away uninjured from highway head-on

IT WAS a close call for two truck drivers after a head-on collision on the Cunningham Hwy at Thane, about 35kms west of Warwick, on Saturday night.

The highway was reduced to one lane for several hours. Warwick police officer-in-charge Jamie Deacon said the drivers were lucky to escape injury.

"Both trucks were extensively damaged and had to be towed," he said.

Investigations are continuing and no charges have been laid.

Snr Sgt Deacon said the weekend was fairly quiet with two drink driving and four drug driving charges laid.

"A 30-year-old NSW man tested positive to drink driving at 6pm on Sunday with (an alleged) reading of .08," he said.

A 44-year-old Warwick man was charged with having an alleged blood alcohol concentration of 0.06, just after 8am on Saturday.

Police charged a 35-year-old Coombabah man for drug driving after a roadside test on Wood St on Saturday.

A 44-year-old Maryvale man was also charged fter testing positive on the Cunningham Hwy on Sunday morning.

Snr Sgt Deacon said an operation focused on criminal motorcycle gang activity resulted in two motorcyclists also being charged for drug driving.

The two men, a 31-year-old and a 43-year-old, both of Brisbane, were intercepted separately by police on the Cunningham Hwy on Friday.
