Triple P program to help support our parents

MUMS and dads in Bundaberg will be able to access a world-leading parenting and family support program, as part of a $6.6 million investment over two years in today's State Budget.

Member for Bundaberg Leanne Donaldson welcomed the news that the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) would be made available for free to all Queensland parents.

"I am keen to support mums and dads in Bundaberg and we know that access to parenting guidance is something many people are looking for," she said.

"Parenting is a tough job and everyone needs a helping hand sometimes. Triple P will help parents facing challenges at any stage of their child's life.

"Triple P gives parents simple, practical tips to help cope with the everyday challenges, from toddler tantrums, self-esteem issues, bedtime battles, disobedience, aggression, bullying or teenage rebellion.

"Parents who use Triple P say they feel more confident about parenting and feel less stressed."

The two-year trial will give families voluntary access to a range of programs including an online program, topic-specific seminars, parent discussion groups and one-on-one consultations, through to more intensive, small group-based and individual programs.

The program will be free online by the end of July, with a series of community seminars starting from September and training for providers rolled out across the state.

Parents who want to register their interest to access the program can visit or phone 3236 1212.
