#treatyoself (or loved one) with these event tickets

ON THE first day of Christmas, our true loves might mention something about a partridge and a pear tree, but for the ornithobians among us, here's a list of things a heck of a lot more appealing.

This summer is event central in Brisbane, so anyone scoping to buy a loved one a gift, or shout themselves something a little special this festive season because #treatyoself, then tickets to these events will be a guaranteed winner.

Here's a few you can't go past:

1.       Mamma Mia: The Musical, December 26, 2017 - January 21, 2018

Dancing Queens and Fernandos, sharpen your vocals and shake out your sarong - we're going to the Greek Islands. If you loved Mamma Mia the movie, then this is going to rock your world. The musical is coming to QPAC from Boxing Day until late January 2018. Inspired by the storytelling of ABBA's classic songs, writer Catherine Johnson's heart-warming tale tells us of a young bride-to-be on the eve of her wedding who wants to find her real father. If you're an ABBA fan (or your loved one is) this could not be more perfect an event to put on the calendar or under the tree.

2.        Aladdin, February 28, 2018 - May 6, 2018

While we're talking musicals, if ABBA is a bit too 70s for your liking, you can't go past Aladdin, the musical. With breathtaking sets, costumes and special effects, the creators of the Lion King are bringing this family favourite to QPAC this summer. Sing along to tunes that take you back to your childhood as you take a trip down nostalgia lane with this mind-blowing performance.

3.       Rugby League World Cup Semi and Final, November 24 and December 2, 2017

There's nothing like an early Christmas present to get you in the festive spirit, so if you're buying for a sports fanatic, this one's a goodie. Grab a few tickets to the Rugby League World Cup semi-final on November 24 or grand final at the start of December for a seriously sought-after seat at Suncorp Stadium. Celebrations will kick off in Brisbane City on Friday December 1 with Finals Fest, before the grand final on December 2, so be sure to check that out while you're in town.

4.        Yayoi Kusama: Life is the Heart of the Rainbow, November 4, 2017 - February 2018

If you don't know her name, you will. Coming to GOMA this summer is an exhibition that explores Yayoi Kusama's seven decades of practice through contemporary Japanese art. For anyone interested in culture and art, they need to be here. The works take the audience through the wild and wonderful life of the artist with more than 70 works. Best of all, it's free! A weekend in Brisbane for your loved one with this the first stop? Yes, ma'am.

5.       Brisbane International, December 31, 2017 - January 7, 2018

If getting close to the action courtside at the Brisbane International makes your senses tingle, or perhaps lounging in a bean bag in front of the big screen at Tennis Central with a wine in hand is more your speed, then this is where you need to be this summer. Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are among the A-listers heading to the court this season and sports fans will want to be there. An amazing opportunity to get up close and sweaty with the kings and queens of the court.
