FIRE has destroyed two uninhabited structures, including a train carriage, in Mundubbera on Monday morning,

The Department of Community Safety said the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service had contained the grassfire, about 1000sq m in size, in the vicinity of Frank McCauley St in Mundubbera.

It said no homes were destroyed  in the fire, which started about 9.20am, and there was no threat to property.

Residents and motorists were advised that smoke would be visible in the area for the next couple of hours and they should drive to conditions and close their windows and doors.

At 11.30am, the department said crews would remain on scene for a short period to monitor the situation and if residents were concerned, they should phone 000.
