Trailer designed to promote lawn bowls to Bundy juniors

BUNDABERG Men's Division Bowls Association is on the road to success with a new purpose-built trailer for the promotion of junior lawn bowls in the region.

Member for Bundaberg Jack Dempsey said the Queensland Government had contributed $9990 towards the new trailer through the Get Going funding program.

"The trailer has been fitted with roll-out carpet, bowls sets, jacks, mats, other equipment and promotional material in order to tour the region and visit local schools," Mr Dempsey said.

"The mobility of the trailer means lawn bowls can be taken to local schools that don't have the resources or coaches, and allows kids to give lawn bowls a go."

Recreation and Sport Minister Steve Dickson said the response to the funding programs that made up the State Government's Get in the Game initiative to support sport and recreation at the grassroots level had been overwhelming.

"Almost $7 million has been approved for 960 projects to increase participation under the Get Going program, while $18 million has been approved for 220 infrastructure projects under the Get Playing program," he said.
