Top ten finish for McCracken in Sydney
BUNDABERG'S Rheed McCracken has impressed at the Oz 10k race around the streets of Sydney today despite not being at his best.
The 20-year-old finished eighth in the open men's class in a time of 23 minutes and eight seconds.
On a slightly different course the Rio Paralympian finished 12th overall. Last year he finished the race in fifth placing
Fellow Bundaberg athlete Nathan Donaldson also competed at the event, finishing fourth in the junior category in 34 minutes and 59 seconds.
Ending up in 38th overall, the teenager said he was just glad to finish.
Nervous after a crash at a similar road event in Brisbane, Nathan's father, Paul, said he did well.
"He took it easy as the Brisbane crash still haunts him,” he said.
"He feels better that it is done without incident but wants to hold off on road racing for a while and concentrate on track.”
Paralympian Kurt Fearnley was the first to cross the line, winning the event the 11th time.
