Top day for smart punters

LOCAL trainer Paul Burgess notched another two wins on his belt during a memorable day of Greyhound racing in Bundaberg.

He enjoyed two wins on the day with his dogs Zone 10 and Velocity Link blitzing competition in race four and eight.

Zone 10 beat odds-on favourite Can Acher Run convincingly crossing the line a full 4 and ¾ lengths ahead of the competition with a time of 27.35 seconds.

Rank outsider Mon Sieur Noir surprised running in third, a length-and-a-half behind Can Acker Run.

Velocity Link impressed in race eight beating Frederico by four lengths in 27.22 seconds.

Rank Outsider made punters happy finishing five lengths behind Fredreico at $13.

Major Billy Blue pleased in the main Young Guns race running the best time of the day with 26.46.

The Bundaberg regular was too quick for second-placed Origin Enforcer winning the race by five lengths.

Convincing Talk ran in third finishing four lengths behind Origin Enforcer.

It was a disappointing race for local dog I’m only Fooling who placed second last.

President of the Bundaberg Greyhound Racing Club Brian Terry said unexpected results yielded dividends for skilled punters.

“Only one favourite won all day so for those that picked the right winners there was some money to be made,” he said.

“It’s always good to see the underdogs come up and the outsiders have their day.”
