Tom’s Doritos 'Crash the Superbowl' payday

TODAY is the day of reckoning for Aussie filmmaker Tom Noakes.

At today's Super Bowl he finds out if he has won one of two prizes in the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl competition.

Noakes' cheeky and slightly disturbing "finger cleaner" ad for the corn chip company is the hot favourite after it went viral and made news bulletins around the world.

The two main prizes, the best of which is $1 million and the chance to work on the set of Marvel's Avengers sequel Age of Ultron, will be awarded during today's gridiron grand final in New Jersey.

An online vote will determine the main winner, while Doritos will select the runner-up who will receive $50,000.

Noakes will be in the audience with the other four finalists, hoping to see his ad show up on the big screen during the event, which was watched by a staggering 108 million Americans last year.
