Staff threatened with tomahawk at emergency

POLICE were called to the Maryborough Hospital after a man threatened staff with a tomahawk on Tuesday night.

The 19-year-old Bauple man waved the small axe around at the entrance to the emergency department just before midnight.

A Maryborough police spokesman said the man also verbally abused staff and those in the area.

Two security guards were able to calm the man and no one was injured.

Police are investigating the incident.
