Tom Edgar stars in an upset victory

THERE are not many players in world volleyball that have the stature of Bundaberg's Tom Edgar and he was at his powerful best when he starred for the LIG Greaters in the V-League with a player-of-the-match performance against Rush & Cash.

Edgar was the game's highest scorer with 46 points in the upset 3-2 (25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 25-27, 15-12) win.

Playing in the Korean National Championship Edgar's Greaters are sixth on the table and his display, especially in the tie-break set, was the key to beating the second placed Rush & Cash.

Up against Cuban Robertlandy Simón (32 points), who is rated as one of the best in the world, Edgar was superb and the Volleyroo increased his standing in the sport with the performance.

Edgar's next game for the LIG Greaters is on February 23 against the Korean Jumbos which sit one place ahead on the ladder.
