Tinder dating app: Fake profiles and stolen pics of women

POPULAR smart phone dating app Tinder is subject to an Australian Government safety warning after security watchdog Bitdefender found it was rife with scammers.

The alert, which was posted on the Australian Government website on Wednesday and went viral on social media, warned stolen images of women and fake Tinder profiles had been used to lure users into clicking on a suspicious website.

Singles use the dating app to swipe through pictures of potential mates and approve or reject "matches" with other uses who are nearby.

The warning states that Tinder is aware of the problem and has been working to remove the fake profiles.
