Thundercats name its squad for the 2018 QSNL
NEW coach, new squad, new future.
The Wide Bay Thundercats will chart a new path to the 2018 Queensland State Netball League under coach Tracy Riley.
Maryborough-based Riley leads a coaching team which features a representative from each of the Wide Bay's biggest regions, with Hervey Bay's Soraya Dredge her assistant coach, and Bundaberg's Shelley Naumann named team manager.
The Thundercats has revealed its squad for the 2018 season, and it features a number of new faces from across the region.
"They're a new-look team - I think only three of the players are still here from last year," Riley said.
"Here's hoping we can have a different outcome.
"These girls aren't scared to win. Physically, (last year's Thundercats squad) was fine, but mentally it just wasn't all there."
Bundaberg supplied nine members of the 16-player squad.
Hervey Bay contributed four players, through shooters Brooke Hall and Nikki Carroll, and training partners Larissa Wilson and Ciara Battle.
Breakaways star Linda Hall is the sole selection from Maryborough, with Monto's Taylah Stegar named as a training partner.
North Brisbane-based and former Whitsundays Sharks captain Shar Bunting will also play for the Thundercats.
The Thundercats will play its games at Townsville from April 27-29, Rockhampton from May 25-27, Cairns from June 22-24, and Mackay from July 20-22.
Riley said she excited to have the team finalised and working towards the new season.
"I'm so thrilled for this opportunity," Riley said.
"It's something I've been working really hard for and I've done lots of work to get there."
Riley is expected to name a captain during the off-season.
