The Waves ready for shot at making the T20 final
CRICKET: The Waves have been boosted by a full-strength squad for their vital Twenty20 clash against Brothers.
Tonight the two sides will battle it out for the last spot in the finals after their match was cancelled last month.
In a winner-takes-all contest the victor will automatically qualify for next month's final to take on Norths.
The Waves welcome back Chris Duff and Matt Fulton to the side and fellow player Michael Loader said the team was in a good position ahead of the contest.
"It's good to see Matt back because he is one of the best cricketers in the division,” he said.
"Our side is also strong. which is a bonus.”
Winless so far in the competition, Loader said the side needed to play well in one area.
"It's our batting in the competition,” he said.
"We leave it up to one or two blokes and that is not good enough.”
"The side needs to concentrate better and rotate strike more.”
Brothers have dominated all contests so far this season with three wins in all competitions.
While T20 is a different competition to the 40-over game, Loader isn't worried.
"We're not trying to make excuses but we weren't at full strength in most of those contests,” he said.
"Any team is capable of beating anyone on the day.”
And Loader feels one area will get them the win.
"Our bowling has been spot on,” he said.
"It's helped us create chaseable totals and we hope that continues.”
Brothers play two games in 24 hours as they back up tomorrow for the NewsMail Cup.
At close to full strength, the team wants to win both matches.
The two sides will face off tonight at Salter Oval.
