Fantastic Friday Fair
THE corner of Woongarra and Maryborough Sts will light up this Friday night as the first Fantastic Friday Night Fair takes place at the Christ Church Anglican Parish.
Fair organiser Sandy Lemass said the Anglican Parish would normally run one annual fair but decided to change it up this year by spreading the event across two occasions.
"This is the first time we have had a night fair and with a new preist in town it will be something to celebrate also," she said.
Father Keith Dean-Jones started at the church six weeks ago after moving from Taree, New South Wales and said he was excited to
welcome the community on the night.
"I've moved from 1000km away and I can't wait to meet everyone," Fr Keith said.
"I spent 10 years in Taree and have been a priest for 39 years.
"And am now here as the permenant priest until I retire."
He said parish members hard been working hard in the last few months to prepare for the churches major faundraiser.
"All the money we raise will go to social care in the community," Fr Keith said.
"This includes the Dorcas Soup Kitchen which runs each Thursday where we serve up to 50 people.
"I am just really looking forward to being part of the Bundaberg area and serving my community."
Mrs Lemass said there would be the usual stalls and lots of entertainment for all the family.
"Delicious home baking, great craft work, plants galore, bottle stall, books and baubles, fresh produce, raffles, ham wheel, speciality stalls, a marvellous coffee shop and no evening fair would be complete without a sumptuous sausage sizzle," she said.
"There will be great entertainment for the children and a marvellous silent art auction to help raise money."
