Bundy cricket season to be a cracker

IF THE players who hit the pitches on Kendalls Flat at the weekend set the standard for Bundaberg's cricket season there is plenty to look forward to over the next six months.

In a revamped competition with Division 1 and Div teams playing against each other the skills of the top-level men came saw them come out on top in a day of Twenty20 games.

Old combatants Across The Waves and Brothers were winners while the other Div 1 team, Past Highs, didn't enjoy the same start to this season as it did in 2014-2015.

With Luke Owen in devastating early-season form belting 83, ATW's 5-143 was too much for Past Highs which replied with 6-136.

Owen's unbeaten innings lasted just 61 balls and it was added to by Matt Fleming, who made 33, in his return to cricket.

Brothers won both matches by dispatching Past Highs and ATW 2 in consecutive games.

James Fitzpatrick fell short of a half century with 48 in the total of 4-143, while David Boge (2-11) and Jarrod Laycock (2-16) were the best of the bowlers in restricting Past Highs to a respectable 8-124 in reply.
