Thais pray for their king's health

THE health of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand was "still unstable”, the palace said late on Wednesday, with the 88-year-old revered monarch on a ventilator and battling a new infection as crowds prayed outside his Bangkok hospital. The King is the world's longest- reigning monarch and beloved of many in Thailand, where he is seen as a unifying figure in a country torn by political rivalries. The public has not seen him for nearly a year as he has battled a series of illnesses in a Bangkok hospital, causing great anxiety for many in the kingdom.
